Ulysses, a lonely, emotionally adrift mortuary assistant, is lured to a remote seaside house by Gene, a beautiful and enigmatic woman claiming to be trapped in an abusive marriage. She persuades him to kill her legally ambiguous backup bodies — clones sustained by consciousness-transfer technology — to free her original self from her husband’s control. But as each execution grows more brutal and erotically charged, Ulysses spirals into paranoia. The arrival of a strange man claiming to be Gene’s husband and a troubling discovery that suggests Ulysses isn’t the first one helping Gene with her troubles throws him into a perverted conspiracy and puts his life in mortal danger.
